young talent

These pages are dedicated to showcasing the young people we know who have a growing, visible talent in writing and art.  To give them a place to reveal their gifts, their voice, ideas and creativity.  For they will not only influence our future, they will define it.

A descriptive paragraph from my niece (age 13) about a funny-crazy thing that happened on their vacation:

The sunset slowly disappeared behind the luscious green mountains of Costa Rica while I enjoyed a toasty, delicious piece of pizza with my family. I thought that nothing could go wrong in the serene, peaceful setting of a surf town right next to the mesmerizing waves of the Pacific. The restaurant had many candles that filled the air with light and new scents. As my dad reached for another piece of pizza, flames jumped up and singed his arm along with setting his napkin on fire. The flames danced before me as I saw my dad’s panicked face along with the burning napkin on our table. Before any more damage could occur the napkin landed on the ground slowly simmering down. Three waiters watched with awe as the Americans tried to show that nothing ever happened.
